Mr. Greg Knight has extensive experience in the solar photovoltaic (PV) industry, with a strong manufacturing and process background. 

 

Mr. Knight began his career in the solar industry in 2002 at Schott Solar, where he was the Manufacturing Director for solar cell fabrication and silicon wafer fabrication. 

After Schott Solar, Mr. Knight was the Director of Process Engineering at GT Solar, a $1B market cap company with annual revenues exceeding $400 million. At GT Solar, Mr. Knight was responsible for the design and implementation of the company's turnkey projects (i.e. the provision of complete wafer, cell and module manufacturing lines). In addition to the installation of fabrication facilities generating over $100 million in revenue, Mr. Knight created many state-of-the-art manufacturing controls that are now standard at GT Solar and its partners. Mr. Knight was also head of a strategic development team at GT Solar that focused on the evaluation of new cell technologies and companies. It was while working in this capacity that Mr. Knight was introduced to Equity Solar. 

 

At Equity Solar, Mr. Knight is responsible for overseeing the company's technological innovations and strategy, including the planning and implementation of the commercial validation in which the company is currently engaged. 

 

In 2010, Mr. Knight co-founded, and remains President of PV Tech Group, LLC. PV Tech Group is a full-scale integrator of crystalline PV manufacturing facilities (wafers, cells, modules). 

Prior to entering the solar industry, Mr. Knight served for five years in the US Navy as Lieutenant, Surface Warfare/Nuclear Power. His primary responsibilities included managing a 22-person team of engineering technicians implementing effective water chemistry and radiological control programs for two nuclear reactor plants onboard a nuclear aircraft carrier. 

 

MEMBERSHIPS

At the US Navy's Nuclear Power School, Mr. Knight graduated with honors and finished top in his class winning the prestigious Vice Admiral William W. Behrens Award. At Nuclear Prototype Training, he again finished top in his class and won the Commanders Graduate Award. In addition to his academic accolades, Mr. Knight was ranked as top division officer aboard the USS Thomas S. Gates. 

Mr. Knight has a BA in Chemistry from Cornell University, a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification, and formal nuclear education from the Naval Nuclear Power School.
